Children's Home Children

Our Story

"I had a vision of supporting children just as I would do to my own child but I didn't know anything about how to start. I started dreaming how I was giving them food every night seeing a building where were staying together. Other took 8 years before I started."

I came to Uriri in the year 1997 with a team of Evangelists for a crusade and here my vision was triggered by the sight of vulnerable children I met on this mission. And hence the idea of beginning a Mercy Ministries Children's Home was mooted.

On 20th August 2000 Mercy opened its doors in a roomed house with 5 girls and one helper. It was in a rented house in a shopping center.

Mercy Ministries Children's Home was started in the year 2000 after the founder came to Uriri and saw the plight of the orphaned child. It was during a crusade and it had rained. The children were barefoot and had no warm clothing.

In order to exercise these rights, Children at risk receive supportive safe spaces, family-like and community-based environment free from violence, abuse and exploitations.

This is achieved through the existing safe space; Mercy Charitable Children Institution.
